Happy Weekend!
~First thing first. You MUST watch this video. It's short and pretty, and it'll put you in a happy-go-lucky, I'm-going-to-have-the-best-weekend, I-need-to-bake-something-right-now sort of mood. Aside from its glorious beauty, I feel like the music needs to be the sound on my alarm. Waking up to that tune would be a great way to start a day.
~I also love this Kone Brewing System from Provisions by Food52. Maybe it's because I worked in a coffee shop for 5 years during high school/college, but I have this infatuation with all coffee-brewing methods that don't require appliances. Hubby and I own more coffee-makers than I can count on one hand, but the only one that plugs in is our Bunn that we have at our cabin for when guest come to visit. I just love this one though, even if it is out of my price range.
~This article about Renting Julia Child's Home in Provence made me crazy jealous. Can you even imagine getting to hang out in Julia Child's house? I would probably be afraid to touch anything. I would sit in her kitchen, most likely carrying on a conversation with my imaginary BFF Julia. The article also got me very excited about our upcoming time in Europe. I like her advice for living like a local when travelling abroad. There's something to be said for finding or making a routine, even when you're halfway across the globe.
~I'm super excited to try out my new cookbook, Baking Illustrated by the editors of Cook's Illustrated Magazine, and in the spirit of sharing, I bought one copy for me, and one copy for one of you!

My favorite cookbook is my mom's old Betty Crocker cookbook that she has scribbled on almost every page. It makes me warm and fuzzy looking through it, even when you can't read the recipe because there's something spilled on the page!

Oh, that would be so fun to visit Julia Child's house in Provence! Have you been to visit the replica of her kitchen in the Smithsonian Museum? I was so tickled even to see that! I am quite fond of a lot of cookbooks, but if I have to pick one favorite, it would also be a Betty Crocker, for its nostalgia factor - my mom has had her Cooky book since she was young, so it's quite worn and well-loved at this point. I used to flip through the pages as a little girl (I especially loved looking at the picture of her gingerbread house) while my mom was busy in the kitchen :)

Betty Crocker's are awesomely nostalgic. :) And yes, I have been to Julia's kitchen in the Smithsonian, and it was AMAZING!

My favorite Cookbook is one that has no title and is only partially filled. A couple of years ago I moved away from my hometown, to a place 10 hours away from family, friends, and all things familiar. As a way to send her love and a little piece of home with me, my mum put together some of my favorite recipes and started a new Recipe Cookbook just for me. Some of the recipes were ones I grew up on, some were copied down after sharing meals with friends, and others were from cookbooks we had used together over the years. Now I have some great memories to build from, and as I come across new favorites, I add them to the book. Though it's already my favorite, by the time it is full and finished I have a feeling that this Cookbook will be quite spectacular!

It's so hard to choose my favorite cookbook; I have so many. One of them is "Essentials of Italian Cooking" by the late Marcella Hazan. It has traditional Italian recipes from various regions of the country and is written in her signature voice. I love it!
Sherrie Bronkema
My favorite cookbook is the Grandville Christian cookbook that I received at one of my bridal showers. It is one of those school cookbooks where moms submit their favorite recipes. I know my mom used this cookbook a lot too.
