Summer is in full swing around here. I am currently manning the cashier table at our yard sale as I write this. Let it be know that this will be the one and only yard sale I ever host. Don’t get me wrong, I like yard sales, but they’re so humbling. There’s something about spending countless painstaking hours placing a value on your possessions, only to have strangers dicker about nickels and pennies that sort of puts you in your place. It’s not really my thing, but our house and garage and life was in desperate need of a purge, so here we sit.
I have a love/hate relationship with cherry pie filling. I love the idea of it, but I hate the canned variety. It’s so gelatinous that I spend half the time separating out the cherries from the goo in the can. I don’t use pie filling for pies usually, but when it’s camping season, it’s a beloved past time to make Hobo pies on the campfire. The most popular fillings are fruit pie filling, or pizza toppings. Our 4th of July campfire at the campground is going to include this Homemade Cherry Pie Filling in our hobo pies. Only 3 ingredients needed! (And a few minutes of patience so you can remove the pits from the cherries….well worth the effort.)
