This recipe has been a long time coming. I have tried countless times to come up with a recipe for honey barbecue sauce that: a) I like. b) Does not require lots of strange ingredients, like fish sauce and whatnot. c) Does not contain High Fructose Corn Syrup.
I finally got it. Plus, Hubby and I both like it even better than Sweet Baby Ray's, so that's a win in my book! We enjoyed pulled pork with this homemade honey barbecue sauce over the holiday weekend and we're looking forward to making lots more of it over the summer.
This Honey Barbecue Sauce is quick and easy to prepare, and is made with ingredients that you most likely already have on hand. I used an organic ketchup that did not contain high fructose corn syrup, since it is always a good idea to avoid that if possible. (Sweet Baby Ray's has lots of HFCS also, so making your own allows you to avoid that.)

Sounds good to me! I don't really use BBQ sauce a whole lot, but these ingredients are all things I keep on hand, so it'll be nice to be able to just whip up some homemade BBQ when I need it! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I am so happy I found this recipe. I buy honey barbeque sauce all the time because I think the honey makes it stick to whatever you are cooking better than other sauces. I can't wait to make it from scratch now because I think local honey is better for you.
Happy grilling,
Lisa
