Three-Cheese Fondue

In the past, we’ve usually done our fondue menus with either chocolate fondue with fruit (amazing!), or oil fondue with meat. It is an incredibly easy way to prepare a sort of fun “experience” meal. For whatever reason, fondue restaurants are quite costly, especially considering how easily you can recreate the experience at home. This…

Instagram post 2161112648811330348_493058878 One of our routines as a family is what we affectionately call, Sushi Sunday. Every Sunday afternoon I make a big batch of sushi rice and prep all the ingredients to make some crowd (aka toddler) pleasing sushi rolls. We typically are gathered around our huge farmhouse table in our family room and we watch a movie while we enjoy our sushi together. It's become one of my favorite parts of the week, and it's both of our daughters' very favorite meal. ⁣
NEW on the blog today I'm sharing how I make perfectly sticky homemade sushi rice and sushi vinegar. Only a few ingredients required, and just a few simple steps stand between you and your own homemade sushi rice. Link in profile. Instagram post 2142329216727864277_493058878 You guys. This book.
Last week I had to place an order for yet another print run of this book baby. In doing so, I had to read it cover to cover again so I can approve the proof. I am so grateful that God saw fit to allow me to have this experience in my life. I only wish I could sit down with everyone who buys a copy and explain all the little details and thought that went into every little aspect of the book. Why I included so many quotes? What is the story behind the “Table Manners” composition? Who drew the little doodle illustrations? Local beer and wine recommendations for cooking the recipes, etc.
There is so much of me and my family in this book that probably only I totally understand, but I do certainly hope that when you look through its pages, you see a book with some personality written by a real person with a true love for homemade food and life in Michigan. My reach is small in terms of numbers on social media, etc, but I’m continually blown away that My Little Michigan Kitchen has sold even a single copy, let alone the number it has sold since its release in March. My goals were lofty for a self-published author judging based on sales statistics, but Michiganders have shown up well for me and I will forever be grateful.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making my dream a reality. I’m blown away. Much love, Mandy .

Instagram post 2140819439908632438_493058878 I haven't been posting much on here lately because I've been so busy doing cookbook related events, but that doesn't mean we haven't been eating well and having fun in the kitchen. This Korean Beef and Broccoli Rice Bowl recipe is an easy go-to weeknight meal that doesn't require lots of planning and prep. ⁣

Instagram post 2126549127029358523_493058878 Hi friends! It's been a whirlwind last several days after The Found Cottage Mercantile Market and I'm just so thankful for all of the new faces I got to meet, books I got to sign, and some new followers on Facebook and Instagram too! A quick little intro to let you know a bit about me and the book... I'm Mandy! I've been blogging at kitchenjoyblog.com since 2013 which started as I cooked and baked my way through my ever-expanding cookbook collection. I've been married to my handsome childhood friend/high school sweetheart for 14 years this year! We have two adventurous little girls who adore food as much as their Mama. :) In 2014 Michael and I were relocated to Italy for several months for his job, and I took my blogging gig overseas. I lived the no-car, tiny apartment, English-speaking foreigner life and it was an incredible experience to learn more about Italian food, culture, and just day-to-day life. It also taught me that Michigan is truly and forever our home.
I've collected cookbooks everywhere we travel for many years. In fact, the first destination-specific cookbook I purchased was on our honeymoon in 2005. Everywhere we go, I try to find a cookbook that is related to the food and people of that region. It was not lost on me that my collection was desperately lacking a Michigan cookbook that felt like the Michigan that we know and love. It became obvious that if I wanted such a book, it was going to me up to me to create it. That's where My Little Michigan Kitchen started. (The tagline of my blog since day one has been "culinary adventures in my little Michigan kitchen" so the title was a no-brainer.) It took me two years to write, photograph, recipe-test, design, print, etc. I am so very proud of how close it came to the book I had floating around in my head for so long.
I can't thank you all enough for your support of my small business. If you have purchased a book, or visited my blog, or written an Amazon review, or liked/shared my content, it all helps more than you can possibly know. Photo cred: @missiemcgovern

Instagram post 2126496372256622916_493058878 Fact. Sourdough is my favorite hobby currently. Also, my sourdough starter is my most obedient child. I should probably give him/her a name.
Instagram post 2125656094587122927_493058878 I can’t thank you all enough for supporting my small business. Shipping out cookbooks in this volume is beyond what I could have ever dreamt for this passion project of mine.
Truly, thank you so much. It means the world to me.
Also, since you all are so awesome, could I maybe ask a little favor? If you get a chance, I’d love if you left a review on Amazon if you’re enjoying your copy of My Little Michigan Kitchen. I’ve got big goals and dreams and every single review, like, comment, and follow helps so much.
Happy Wednesday!!!
