  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 8

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup packed dark-brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine butter, dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar with a wooden spoon. Stir in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in chocolate chips.
  3. Spread cookie dough in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet; smooth top. (Tip: I find it is easiest to spread the dough by laying a sheet of parchment or waxed paper on the surface of the dough, and then pressing and spreading the dough to cover the pan evenly, then peel away the paper.)
  4. Bake until cookie is golden brown and just set in the center, about 18 to 20 minutes.
  5. Let cool 10 minutes before slicing.
  6. Enjoy!
