Using clean hands, roll the meat mixture into 12-16 meatballs.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook meatballs in batches until golden brown on all sides. Transfer cooked meatballs to a large plate.
Add tomato sauce to the skillet set over low heat. Return meatballs to the pan and simmer in the sauce until sauce has thickened a bit and meatballs are cooked through, about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Add 3-4 meatballs and marinara to the center of each sliced roll. Top with 2 slices of fresh mozzarella.
Arrange prepared sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake until cheese has melted and bread is toasted, about 5 minutes.
