Bright and refreshing, this blueberry gin fizz cocktail is very easy to drink. Perfect for a warm summer evening on the patio. The blueberry syrup can be made with fresh blueberries or frozen, and is delicious on ice cream, in lemonade, and many other uses.

How to make blueberry syrup-
This blueberry simple syrup is easy to make with either fresh blueberries or frozen. We use this syrup year-round and always have frozen blueberries on hand, so I usually use frozen. All you need is blueberries, sugar, water, and a bit of lemon juice.
- First you'll simmer the blueberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice together until thickened and syrupy.
- Then strain to remove the blueberry solids.
- Chill, then enjoy!

What is the best gin to use for this cocktail?
Honestly, I find gin to be very adaptable and works well in many drinks and is pretty well-suited to many different uses. Gin is made from juniper berries, amongst other things, and I find the flavor to be very clean and refreshing. For this reason, it is my favorite alcohol for cocktails. There are four types of gin, although London Dry is the one most people are referring to when they speak of gin. If you'd like to learn more about them, here's an article from Bon Appetit explaining the types of gin.
Gins vary in their amount of botanical flavors, for sure. If you are looking for a really good multi-purpose gin that'll work in sweet and savory drinks, I like Beefeater. It's got enough flavor that you can taste it, but it's not overpowering enough to taste like a Christmas tree, as some gins do. Beefeater works great in this Blueberry gin fizz cocktail recipe.

If you lean toward a more martini-based drink preference and you love the more botanical flavors, Tanquerray or The Botanist are both very much more flavor-forward than some others on the market.
If you're a fan of alcohol that tastes like almost nothing, and is very easy to drink, you would enjoy New Amsterdam Stratosphere gin. It is very clean, mellow, and smooth.
These are just my own findings after spending a year at home and watching lots of cocktail classes on Zoom and Instagram Live. I am by no means a bartender or any sort of cocktail expert, so find what you like and roll with it, responsibly.
